Three-times world champ Ali, 70, received the honour from current WBC heavyweight king Vitali Klitschko in Cancun, Mexico.
Ali was famous for his fast-talking and “float like a butterfly, sting like a bee” boxing style. His greatest fights included 1974’s Rumble in the Jungle against George Foreman.
